I have experience with many different design methods, but it's important to identify when to use them. I have outlined my general process below. I add extra methods and steps depending on the type of project; service design, digital only or a digital physical mixture.
Run a good requirements gathering workshop to get stakeholder input. I subscribe to the ‘Jobs To Be Done’ method of requirements capture which focuses on motivations instead of demographics.
Sketch ideas & scenarios, then turn them into user journeys.
After user journeys are approved, I proceed to rapid prototyping.
Figure what the objective of the user testing is, and design my prototype around that.
Test the prototype with users and gather feedback. Use feedback to update the designs.
Create UX documentation for the team to follow.
Support visual design and development team to create the final product.
